A 52 -year-old farmer, Madam Beauty Gogah from Hodzo has been crown the overall best farmer in Ho Municipality at 40^th Farmers Day Celebration held at Hoe.

She received a tricycle, knapsack sprayer, a raincoat, wellington boots, four cutlasses, two containers each of weedicides and insecticides as well as a certificate of recognition.

Madam Gogah has variety of crops including 28 acres of maize, 20 acres of cassava, 20 acres of cowpea, eight acres of okra, five acres of rice, four acres of palm plantation, two acres of yam, one acre of coconut, half an acre of sugar cane, one acre of groundnut and citrus trees.

A total of 10 farmers including a 55-year-old physically challenged farmer from Takla Tokor, Mr. Evans Gbedzivor, who received the Best Physically Challenged Farmer Award were awarded for their hard work, at the durbar which was celebrated on the theme: “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,”.

Madam Gogah was grateful to the Ho Municipal Assembly particularly the Department of Agriculture for their relentless effort to support for farmers.

She urged the citizenry particularly women, to venture into farming to benefit from, what she described as numerous opportunities to make them financially stable as well as contribute to the nation’s development.

The Municipal Best Farmer, appealed to the government to support farmers with loans, this she is optimistic will address their financial challenges and help increase their yields.

In his address, the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Divine R. K Bosson, outlined some government initiatives aimed at transforming the agricultural sector such as Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, One Constituency One Warehouse, One Village One Dam, and the support for poultry and livestock production.

He noted that these flagship programmes are proof of the government’s commitment towards improving the agriculture sector.

The Hon. MCE pledge government’s continuous effort to address challenges such as limited access to finance, poor road networks, high costs of agricultural inputs, and post-harvest losses.

He was optimistic that the District Road Improvement Programme, DRIP, will help improve access to farm roads.

The Municipal Director Agriculture, Mr. Godwin Agbenyegah, disclosed that the government, through the Food System Resilience Project in partnership with GMet and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), had developed an early weather warning system to address the climate change situation.

The system he said can predict weather patterns even at the district level, providing crucial information to help farmers plan effectively.

He mentioned that the Municipal Assembly has also made strides in promoting cash crop cultivation adding that under the Planting for Export and Rural Development programme, the assembly distributed 35,000 coconut seedlings and 20,000 mango seedlings to 231 farmers across the municipality.

Mr. Agbenyegah indicated that the department hopes to increase agricultural production in the municipality by 300 per cent by 2028, starting with a targeted 60 per cent boost in the yield of staple crops and vegetables by the end of 2025.

The Paramount Chief of Hoe Traditional Area, Togbega Sesinu V, cautioned farmers against practices that leads to bushfires and thereby destroys the farmlands and the environment at large.

Personnel of the National Fire Service staged a drama to educate farmers on the causes, effects, and prevention of bushfires.

On display were variety of food crops such as maize, plantain, beans, yam, potatoes pepper, rice, eggplant, palm fruits among others,cultivated by farmers in the Ho Municipality.

The Ho Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of road construction equipment under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) with great excitement.

They are a payloader, roller, grader, backhoe, bulldozer and water tanker.

The Assembly is expected to receive an additional bulldozer, payloader, concrete mixers and a tipper truck.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Divine RK Bosson, who received the equipment, thanked His Excellency the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his vision and making the DRIP programme a reality.

He also expressed gratitude to all Ministers who facilitated the processes from their procurement to delivery to the various Metropolitan, Municipal, and Districts Assemblies.

The MCE assured that the Assembly would take good care of the equipment and use them for the intended purpose.

He said the equipment came in handy to enable the Assembly to continue the road improvement project dubbed: “Operation Let’s Get The Road Opened” already being implemented by the Assembly.

Hon. Bosson assured the public that with the provision of the equipment, the Assembly would make all roads in the Municipality motorable.

He appealed to the Municipal Security Committee to join hands in ensuring the safety of the equipment.

Some residents, including chiefs, expressed joy over the receipt of the equipment and commended the government for the foresight.

Madam Atawa Kuma, a middle-aged woman, told the ISD that she was happy roads at the outskirt Ho especially the Ho-Kpenoe road would be improved so that women could access the Ho Market with less stress.

The District Road Improvement Programme was launched by the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in July this year to expand road network coverage, increase accessibility, enhance mobility, and improve economic activities at the local level in fulfilment of the Year of Roads’ promise by the President.

The Volta Boxing Federation, boxing promoter Abubakar Sadick Akake, and Ho Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Divine RK Bosson have joined forces to announce the “Night of Honour and Appreciation,” a boxing event that will take place in Ho on September 20, 2024. On August 26, 2024, the launch was held at the Ho Municipal Assembly.

According to Hon. Divine Richard Bosson, the event is a part of his efforts to promote sports in the Municipality as an MCE and parliamentary candidate. “My interest lies in identifying and nurturing talents to become international boxers and icons,” he said, emphasizing his focus on amateur boxers.

He charged the media to publicize the occasion to create awareness and give worthy people chances.

The promoter, Mr. Abubakar Sadick Akake, emphasized the importance of the event in bolstering the sport, stating, “We need to showcase the talent because, without boxers, no one will invest.”

The Volta Boxing Federation also urged the media to publicize the event and refute the myth that boxing is solely for school dropouts.

Hon. Divine RK Bosson urged people and businesses to support the event in his closing remarks.

The HMA prosecuting officer has so far conducted six cases at the Magistrate Court 1 on a series of offenses such us  Crude dumping of rubbish at unauthorised places within the Ho Market, Rearing of Cattle in a Residential Area, Unauthorised removal of sewage pipe from the septic thank causing faecal matter splashing in the environment, Building without permit etc.

On Thursday 2^nd of May, 2024, at 2 pm, the commissioning of Dutasor Zonal Council took place at Matse which brought together Chiefs, Unit Committee Members, and people from various communities within the municipality, where the Chairman was introduced in the person of Togbe Teiku V, Chief of Matse Dzeve.

The welcome address was given by Togbe Adzah Mensah II, which stated that the Paramount Chief Oseitutu said he remembered, in 1952 a member of Afife who came from Abutia called “Amania” stayed in Dutasor as Council Chairman. In the early days, the Ho Municipality was divided into Zonal but their voices were not heard and their works were not showing. So when the government came to power, they realized that no, the Chiefs should meet and make arrangements about their Town and Clans and work hand in hand to plan on how to bring developments to the Town. Matse will work with Ziavi to put up their school building same as Taviefe. The betterment of every Council is the betterment of every town. The most important thing is how the council members will bring development to the town not where the Council is built.

Fast forward, the Presiding Member Hon. Mawunyo Agbe said without the Zonal Council or the sub-structures the Assembly is not complete. That is why the Assembly Members were elected to do the work and talk on behalf of the people. People were asking when they were going to establish a Zonal Council and he would say Matse is the first among the five Zonal Councils that have been established. He said most times, the committees do not know that there are rules and regulations that governs them. The rules that governs the assembly, 70% of those same regulations govern the Zonal Councils. Rules governs the various committees that were set up and on how to hold meetings. But he has realized that most times, it does not go that way and luckily enough they have a document which supports unit committees on how to hold their meetings those documents are with him and will be given out to each of them to read through.

The Municipal Chief Executive Ho, Hon. Divine R.K Bosson also delivered a speech stating that the establishment of the Zonal Council is to disseminate powers and also empower the grassroots level. He also urges the Zonal Council to approach their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and compassion. He said their role is not merely administrative but it is one of leadership, advocacy, and stewardship. He said they should put in so much effort in the work they do, input feedback, and collaborate for the essential success of the Zonal Council.  He also urges the people of the Matse communities to look beyond party colors and vote wisely come December 7^th, 2024. He said they should vote for him as a Member of Parliament so he can continue the good works he has already started. The Zonal Council was commissioned by the MCE together with the Chiefs where they entered the offices well-finished and to top it all was Air Condition fixed in the offices.

Some dignitaries also present to grace the occasion were; Togbe Teiku V, the Chief of Matse Dzeve, Mama Anidzebo, and Mr. Nelson Drah the Secretary to Matse Zonal Council, etc.

On Thursday 2^nd of May, 2024, at 11 am, the commissioning of Police Station took at Tokokoe which brought together Chiefs and people from various communities within the municipality

The Chairman was introduced in person of Sorhefia James Yao Klu, the youth leader and Formal Highways Authority Officer.  The chairman accepted his position and address the people by saying, they had challenges in the community when there was no Police Station. People steal and do illegal businesses in the community and goes scot free, so he appreciate the fact that the police station have been completed and due to commissioning.

Fast forward, the Assembly Member of Tokokoe delivered the welcome address by stating that, the newly commissioned Police Station will serve as a hub for community Policing where Officers can engage with residents, build trust and address crucial matters. He also stated that, he would appreciate it if the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Divine RK Bosson could help them rectify some essentials such as provision of water through boreholes, construction of slap to cover some of the gutters in the town, replacement of outdated office chairs and building of Police Bungalows etc.

The Municipal Chief Executive Ho, Hon. Divine R.K Bosson also delivered a speech stating that, on records he was supposed to complete the Police Station in a year time but used just 4months to complete it. He said in a world where safety is paramount, having a Police Station within the community is not just a necessity rather symbolizes the collective resolve to uphold law and order, to protect the community from wrong doings and ensure the well-being of everyone in the community. He stated that, the Law Enforcement Officers are the backbone of the security infrastructures, the guardians of the streets and the first respondents in times of crises.  He also urge the people of Tokokoe to look beyond party colours and vote wisely come December 7^th, 2024. He said they should vote for him as the Member of Parliament so he can continue the good works he has already started.

However, the good works he was doing were appreciated by the people of the community because he has brought a reliable water supply to the Tokokoe community.
