Mrs. Lydia Nyarko-Ampomah and her municipal officers of the Centre for National Culture paid a working visit to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Divine Bosson. In discussion was issues to strengthen the bond between the CNC and the HMA on the way to promote culture and tourism in the municipality.

With the Urban Development Grant 3, The Ho Municipal Assembly is reconstructing some number of important roads in the municipality namely, the OLA bypass, Charcaol road, Blisam Zion road, Alele Bridge Surface restoration, Cemetery Bypass among others, this roads are being constructed by Openya Constructions and First Sky Group respectively. According to the contractors at a site meeting held yesterday 13th March 2024 with the consultants and the HMA, the roads will be completed and delivered in 6 months.                                     

On Monday 12^th of February, 2024, at 10:30 am, a ceremony was held in the Ho Municipal Assembly forecourt to inaugurate the 9^th assembly of the Ho Municipal. This inauguration brought together Chiefs, Queens and people from various communities within the Municipality.

On arrival of the guests, amidst them were important dignitaries but there was one very most important person who was the representative of the President of the Republic of Ghana in person of Hon. Lawyer Sam A. Okudzeto whose presence made the ceremony lit.

As the ceremony was in procession, the Municipal Chief Executive was called upon to deliver a welcome address. In his address he stated that, he appreciate the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo for his tremendous assistance and support to the Ho Municipality but, like Oliver Twist, they want more and it’s his appeal through the representative of the President, Member of the Council of State, Hon. Sam A. Okudzeto, for an attention to be paid to the Sokode acute water situation which he had undertaken number of follow- ups to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation for the necessary interventions. He also stated that, there were some pressing issues which demand the requirement of some level of investments for a diversion of the lines to be split from Akrofu to serve these people and those in the University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS).

Fast forward, an address was given by the representative, Hon. Sam A. Okudzeto on behalf of the President which stated that, in accordance with the 1992 Constitution stated, 30% of assembly members together with the elected ones as well as the Member of Parliament and District Chief Executive constitute members of the Assembly. He said, Assembly members should have a good working relationship with each other to create innovative ways of mobilizing the needed structures for the development of the municipality which can help change the status quo of the local government and also, they have the mandate to deliberate, plan, mobilize resources, make decisions including making by-laws to ensure the transformation of the nation and a better Ghana for all.

After the address, the members of the assembly elected were 29 and government appointees 14 constituting 43 who were sworn in at the ceremony and have also sworn the oath of secrecy. Voting was done by the Assembly members in selecting the Presiding Member which took place at the Assembly Hall of the Ho Municipal Assembly. The Presiding Member position was contested by three (3) contestants namely; Hon. Mawunyo Agbe, Hon. Awume, Hon. Mac-Billion. The outcome of the vote was massive where Hon. Mawunyo Agbe was declared the winner by EC with 37 votes.

Some dignitaries also present to grace the inauguration were; Hon. Benjamin Kpodo, the NDC Member of Parliament, Mr. Yao Amesimenu, the Municipal Coordinating Director, His Lordship, Akosah Ajari the Magistrate, Mama Mexasukpa III of Akoefe Avenui, Togbe Aklamanu Kwadzo Deii , Chief of Akoefe Avenui and others.

As part of a nationwide celebration, the Ho Municipal Assembly held its 39^th National Farmer’s Day at Nyive on Friday 1^st December 2023 in honor of their gallant farmers. This year’s celebration which was under the theme: “Delivering smart solutions for sustainable food security and resilience”, brought together Chiefs and people from various communities within the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive Ho, Hon. Divine R.K Bosson, in his speech noted that, avant-garde technologies coupled with effective practices can deliver smart solutions to address the pressing issues of food security and resilience. He mentioned a few of the smart solutions which are; Precision Agriculture, Vertical Farming, Block Chain Technology, Agroforestry, etc.

He urged citizens, especially the youth to take advantage of the various agricultural-based social interventions provided by the government and delve into farming to reap the benefits that come with them.

The Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mary Esenam Elewokor stated that the usage of Conservation Agricultural Approach Techniques will help increase the resilience of food systems to climate change. She added that the use of modern technologies such as Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) makes spraying of farmlands easier; These technologies according to her these practices do not just increase agricultural output but also reduce environmental impact and heighten efficiency, ultimately paving the way for a resilient and food-secure future.

Awards were given to the hardworking farmers as follows;

2. 1^st Runner up – Stephen Yayung from Akoefe.
3. 2^nd Runner up – Wogbe Adinkra from Sokode Bagble.
4. Best Collaborative Farmer – Hon. Capt. George Nfojoh Rtd.
5. Best Crop Farmer – Willington Tsedi from Hodzo Aviefe.
6. Best Woman Farmer – Regina Tona from Akrofu Xeviwofe.
7. Best Physically Challenged Farmer – Hopeson Gameli from Akrofu Agov
8. Best Youth Farmer – Dziedzorm Watey from Nyive
9. Best Education Institution in Farming – Nyive M/A JHS
10. Best Vegetable Farmer – Rev. Father Godslove Anthony from Shia.
11. Best Agricultural worker – Senyo Azumah from Klefe Deme.
12. Best Livestock Farmer – Paul Attah Kwesi Anku from Tokokoe.
13. Climate Smart Agricultural Farmer – Samuel Gbadzivor from Takla Tokor.
14. Best Group in Farming – GTSEL from Hoviefe.

Some dignitaries present at the colorful ceremony includes, the Sector Commander – GRA Nyive, Creppy Izac Ayitey, Regional MTTD Commander- ACP Stephen Delaporte, Presiding Member for Ho Municipal Assembly, Hon. Mawunyo Agbe and Mr. Henry Amesimeku – Municipal Coordinating Director and Munkaila Amidu – Imam of Nyive.

On Saturday 11^th of November, 2023, the Volta Regional edition of the 78^th anniversary of the end of the Second World War was held to remember and honor the Veterans and the fallen heroes who died in the line of duty during the 1^st and Second World war subsequent conflicts around the world was held at the Ho Jubilee park.

The event was marked with a beautiful parade under the command of Flt. Lt. Adjoa Kwarteng and made of eight contingents drawn from the various security agencies in the region and the Veterans Administration of Ghana (VAG).

Wreaths were laid as follows;

on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana by on behalf of the Security Services within the Volta Region –Togbe Tepre Hodoh IV – President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the Volta region and Ex- SWOI Kofi Amegbor also laid on behalf of the Veterans Administration of Ghana

1^st wreath was laid by the Volta Regional Minister Hon. Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa on behalf of the President and the people of Ghana.

2^nd wreath was laid by Commodore Bright Emmanuel Kojo Atiayao, Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Training Command on behalf of the Security Services within the Volta Region.

3^rd wreath was laid by a representative of the Regional House of Chiefs Togbe Tepre Hodo IV on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Volta Region.

The final wreath was laid by the Regional Chairman of Veterans Administration Ghana EX WOI Kofi Amegbor on behalf of the Veterans Administration of Ghana.

Present at the ceremony include the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Hon. Divine R.K. Bosson, members of the Regional Security Council Traditional Authorities, and cadets drawn from various schools within the municipality.

In response to a distress call by the Chiefs and people of Avee, Atikpui, Awiasu, Hoe, Hodzo, Klave Lume, Nyive, Shia, Tanyigbe and Tokokoe communities, collectively referred to as  Norvisi Development Union (NorDU), to the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Hon. Divine R.K. Bosson, to assist in the rehabilitation of the Avee – Lume road, the Ho Municipal Assembly has undertaken some clearing and reshaping works on the said road to make it motorable.

According to the Chief of Lume Atsyame Togbe Agbenyedzo VI, the call has become necessary because the 2.6-kilometer road is the shortest route linking all the other communities within the catchment area.

He noted that failure to rehabilitate the road would adversely affect the grand durbar of the upcoming “NorDU” festival, slated for Saturday 25^th November 2023.

According to the MCE, the grader work undertaken on the road is a significant infrastructure project aimed at addressing safety and usability concerns.   “As a son of NorDU, I have no option but to respond swiftly to the call, knowing it would bring great relief to my people, and boost business activities between the regional capital and communities around the area,” he said.
