HO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY INAUGRATES THE 9TH ASSEMBLY.
On Monday 12th of February, 2024, at 10:30 am, a ceremony was held in the Ho Municipal Assembly forecourt to inaugurate the 9th assembly of the Ho Municipal. This inauguration brought together Chiefs, Queens and people from various communities within the Municipality.
On arrival of the guests, amidst them were important dignitaries but there was one very most important person who was the representative of the President of the Republic of Ghana in person of Hon. Lawyer Sam A. Okudzeto whose presence made the ceremony lit.
As the ceremony was in procession, the Municipal Chief Executive was called upon to deliver a welcome address. In his address he stated that, he appreciate the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo for his tremendous assistance and support to the Ho Municipality but, like Oliver Twist, they want more and it’s his appeal through the representative of the President, Member of the Council of State, Hon. Sam A. Okudzeto, for an attention to be paid to the Sokode acute water situation which he had undertaken number of follow- ups to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation for the necessary interventions. He also stated that, there were some pressing issues which demand the requirement of some level of investments for a diversion of the lines to be split from Akrofu to serve these people and those in the University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS).

Fast forward, an address was given by the representative, Hon. Sam A. Okudzeto on behalf of the President which stated that, in accordance with the 1992 Constitution stated, 30% of assembly members together with the elected ones as well as the Member of Parliament and District Chief Executive constitute members of the Assembly. He said, Assembly members should have a good working relationship with each other to create innovative ways of mobilizing the needed structures for the development of the municipality which can help change the status quo of the local government and also, they have the mandate to deliberate, plan, mobilize resources, make decisions including making by-laws to ensure the transformation of the nation and a better Ghana for all.
After the address, the members of the assembly elected were 29 and government appointees 14 constituting 43 who were sworn in at the ceremony and have also sworn the oath of secrecy. Voting was done by the Assembly members in selecting the Presiding Member which took place at the Assembly Hall of the Ho Municipal Assembly. The Presiding Member position was contested by three (3) contestants namely; Hon. Mawunyo Agbe, Hon. Awume, Hon. Mac-Billion. The outcome of the vote was massive where Hon. Mawunyo Agbe was declared the winner by EC with 37 votes.
Some dignitaries also present to grace the inauguration were; Hon. Benjamin Kpodo, the NDC Member of Parliament, Mr. Yao Amesimenu, the Municipal Coordinating Director, His Lordship, Akosah Ajari the Magistrate, Mama Mexasukpa III of Akoefe Avenui, Togbe Aklamanu Kwadzo Deii , Chief of Akoefe Avenui and others.
