HMA JOINS GLOWA TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY.
As part of a nationwide celebration, GLOWA and Ho Municipal Assembly on Friday 8th of March, 2024, at 9:30 am, held a ceremony in the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall to celebrate International Women’s Day in honor of their amazing women. This celebration was under the theme: “Inspire Inclusion” brought together Queens and the wonderful women from various communities within the Municipality.
In a speech read on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive Ho, by Mr. Yao Amesimenu, the Municipal Coordinating Director noted that, in recognition of the unique challenges faced by women in our community, they have taken it upon themselves to support women in the Ho Municipal Assembly and have tailored to provide the resources to address these challenges effectively.
He also stated that, in 2021, thirty-three (33) women with disabilities benefitted from the Disability Common Fund and also in 2022, funds were disbursed from the same Common Fund, benefitting a total of one hundred and six (106) women. These are the beneficiaries of the Common Fund administered by the Common Fund Secretariat in the Ho Municipality and they have partnered with NGOs i.e. Africa Disability Institute, Women in Disability, Madamfo Ghana, Plan Ghana, Kekeli Foundation and other stakeholders to provide support services to these women to help them thrive.

The Municipal Assembly has also created an ad hoc subcommittee for Women and Children. This committee was formed to attend to the special and immediate issues concerning women and children. He said, the assembly is committed to inspiring, promoting gender equality and empowering women in our community.
After the MCE’s speech, Madam Rosemond Ewoenam Atutonu the Executive Director, GLOWA stated that, they intend to establish skills and training school for adults where they can learn and work on their own so as to be successful in life. She also appreciated Star Ghana for sponsoring the program and also they will continue to implement initiatives and policies that support the advancement of women regardless of gender and create a more inclusive and prosperous society for all.
Some dignitaries also present to grace the ceremony were; President of Ghana Federation of Disabilities, Madam Elikplim Klu, Madam Selasi from Ghana Enterprise Agency and Mama Afiakuma II of Heve.
