HO MUNICIPAL 39th FARMERS DAY HELD AT NYIVE
As part of a nationwide celebration, the Ho Municipal Assembly held its 39th National Farmer’s Day at Nyive on Friday 1st December 2023 in honor of their gallant farmers. This year’s celebration which was under the theme: “Delivering smart solutions for sustainable food security and resilience”, brought together Chiefs and people from various communities within the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive Ho, Hon. Divine R.K Bosson, in his speech noted that, avant-garde technologies coupled with effective practices can deliver smart solutions to address the pressing issues of food security and resilience. He mentioned a few of the smart solutions which are; Precision Agriculture, Vertical Farming, Block Chain Technology, Agroforestry, etc.
He urged citizens, especially the youth to take advantage of the various agricultural-based social interventions provided by the government and delve into farming to reap the benefits that come with them.
The Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mary Esenam Elewokor stated that the usage of Conservation Agricultural Approach Techniques will help increase the resilience of food systems to climate change. She added that the use of modern technologies such as Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) makes spraying of farmlands easier; These technologies according to her these practices do not just increase agricultural output but also reduce environmental impact and heighten efficiency, ultimately paving the way for a resilient and food-secure future.

- Overall Best Famer – Dickson Oklu from Kpenoe.
- 1st Runner up – Stephen Yayung from Akoefe.
- 2nd Runner up – Wogbe Adinkra from Sokode Bagble.
- Best Collaborative Farmer – Hon. Capt. George Nfojoh Rtd.
- Best Crop Farmer – Willington Tsedi from Hodzo Aviefe.
- Best Woman Farmer – Regina Tona from Akrofu Xeviwofe.
- Best Physically Challenged Farmer – Hopeson Gameli from Akrofu Agov
- Best Youth Farmer – Dziedzorm Watey from Nyive
- Best Education Institution in Farming – Nyive M/A JHS
- Best Vegetable Farmer – Rev. Father Godslove Anthony from Shia.
- Best Agricultural worker – Senyo Azumah from Klefe Deme.
- Best Livestock Farmer – Paul Attah Kwesi Anku from Tokokoe.
- Climate Smart Agricultural Farmer – Samuel Gbadzivor from Takla Tokor.
- Best Group in Farming – GTSEL from Hoviefe.
Some dignitaries present at the colorful ceremony includes, the Sector Commander – GRA Nyive, Creppy Izac Ayitey, Regional MTTD Commander- ACP Stephen Delaporte, Presiding Member for Ho Municipal Assembly, Hon. Mawunyo Agbe and Mr. Henry Amesimeku – Municipal Coordinating Director and Munkaila Amidu – Imam of Nyive.
