Ho Municipal Assembly Announce Annual License Fee For Commercial Tricycle Operators. Jan. 18th 2024
Ho, 18th Jan 2024 – The Ho Municipal Assembly as part of its initiative to sanitize the city, has come up with a licensing regime for commercial tricycle operators in the municipality.
The city for some time now has seen the inflow of commercial tricycles though not legalized nationally, stakeholder consultations have been ongoing to sanitize the business so it conforms with the laws of operating within the municipality.
The Assembly for one year had suspended the collection of one cedi daily toll it used to collect from the commercial tricycle operators and by resolutions passed by the General Assembly, is introducing an annual license fee of Ghc 250.00 effective January,2024.
The MCE, Hon Divine RK Bosson, said as part of sanitizing the industry, the Assembly will ensure all commercial operators belong to a union hence the implementation of a dress code for all commercial taxi operators to promote a good riding experience as part of promoting the Oxygen City.
The MCE also admonished the operators on the various road projects ongoing in the municipality, seeking their willingness to contribute to the success of such projects.
Ho Municipal Assembly Commences Road Projects Jan. 14th 2024
Ho, 14th Jan 2024 The Ho Municipal Assembly has commenced road projects in the municipality’s Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme.
During a site inspection, the MCE, Hon. Divine RK Bosson said the ongoing road projects will give meaning to the oxygen city project the Assembly is pursuing more to open up communities in the municipality.
The MCE, during the inspection and media engagement, mentioned the list of Roads to be fixed this year namely; The Ola Bypass Road, Blisam Zion Road, Cemetery Bypass Road, Market Goil Charcoal Road, resurfacing of the famous Alale Bride which all fall under the UDG 3 of the Ghana Secondary Cities Programme.
The MCE also made it clear the Buildings encroaching on the road will not be spared but pulled down to pave the way for the project.
HO MUNICIPAL 39th FARMERS DAY HELD AT NYIVE
As part of a nationwide celebration, the Ho Municipal Assembly held its 39th National Farmer’s Day at Nyive on Friday 1st December 2023 in honor of their gallant farmers. This year’s celebration which was under the theme: “Delivering smart solutions for sustainable food security and resilience”, brought together Chiefs and people from various communities within the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive Ho, Hon. Divine R.K Bosson, in his speech noted that, avant-garde technologies coupled with effective practices can deliver smart solutions to address the pressing issues of food security and resilience. He mentioned a few of the smart solutions which are; Precision Agriculture, Vertical Farming, Block Chain Technology, Agroforestry, etc.
He urged citizens, especially the youth to take advantage of the various agricultural-based social interventions provided by the government and delve into farming to reap the benefits that come with them.
The Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mary Esenam Elewokor stated that the usage of Conservation Agricultural Approach Techniques will help increase the resilience of food systems to climate change. She added that the use of modern technologies such as Drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) makes spraying of farmlands easier; These technologies according to her these practices do not just increase agricultural output but also reduce environmental impact and heighten efficiency, ultimately paving the way for a resilient and food-secure future.

MIND FREEDOM GHANA TRAINED STAKEHOLDERS ON MENTAL STIGMATIZATION AGAINST MENTALLY DERANGED VICTIMS.
On Tuesday 28th November, 2023, Mind Freedom Ghana a Non-Governmental Organization organized a workshop on mental health and wellbeing at the Freedom Hotel in Ho. The workshop which was under the theme: “why, when and how is mental health a universal human right” brought together Traditional rulers, Assembly Unit Committee Members, Religious leaders, and Social as well as Health workers to be trained on mental health and well-being.
In a speech read on his behalf by the Public Relations Officer of the Ho Municipal Assembly, Mr. Richmond Abake, the Municipal Chief Executive Ho, noted that, mental health should not be seen and left to only the mental health professionals and the victims alone to handle but a collective responsibility which involves every individual. He stated that, the Municipal Assembly through the Social Welfare Department, is ensuring that patients of mental disorders are not left out when it comes to the fair distribution of their share of the National cake.
A Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Eugene Dordoye, who spoke on theme: “why, when and how is mental health a universal human right” stated that, not being mentally ill, does not mean one is mentally healthy. According to him, one must know the challenges of life in order to overcome them. A Unit Head from the department of Social Welfare of the Ho Municipal Assembly, Mr. Wisdom Krakani who spoke on the theme: “persons with mental disorders in the family and societal settings” called on all to stop stigmatizing mentally deranged victims or persons, but rather show them love and the care they needed since most mentally retarded persons need no medication but attention, love and care from us all.
Mr. Dan Taylor a Director from the MindFreedom Ghana, pledged to extend their training to the remote areas of the municipality. According to him, a durbar of Chief and people would be held at Akoefe on Thursday 30th November 2023 to educate the people of that community on the same topic.

NORDU CITIZENS CELEBRATES ANNUAL YAM FESTIVAL IN A GRAND STYLE
The people of the Norvisi Development Union (NorDU) celebrated their 39th Annual Festival at Agogoe Lume in the Ho Municipality on Saturday 25th November 2023. This year’s celebration was under the theme: Sustainable Development in Peace and Unity.
Welcoming participants, the Chief of Lume traditional area, Togbe Agbenyedzo IV urged the people to always embrace peace and tranquility to enable development in the area.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ho Hon Divine R.K. Bosson in His address urged the youth to be law-abiding and respect their elders. He noted that the NorDU Annual Yam Festival, should not be limited to just commemorating agricultural products; but also recognizing the hard work and determination of farmers who toil day-in-day-out to ensure food security in the area.
He added that plans are underway to construct a comprehensive water system for Atikpui, Tokokoe, Avee, Hodzo, and Lume communities to alleviate the water crisis within the enclave. He further stated that a complete school campus with all the ancillary facilities put together by GETFUND and left in the bush for some years now would soon be allocated to the University of Health and Allied Sciences to be used as a satellite campus.
Hon. Bosson also called for the rebranding of the “Miss NorDU” beauty pageantry to ensure value for money. “I am of the firm conviction that; we have been overspending on the NorDU festival. Ranging from the organization of the beauty pageant which I think can be sold as a franchise to event organizers with a win-win agreement in order to ease the burden from the citizens who can channel those resources towards the main celebration.”
I am therefore calling on the 2024 planning committee to ensure a complete restructuring of the festival to the benefit of our people” he noted.

HMA JOINS THE WORLD TO HONOUR VETERANS AND FALLEN HEROES.
On Saturday 11th of November, 2023, the Volta Regional edition of the 78th anniversary of the end of the Second World War was held to remember and honor the Veterans and the fallen heroes who died in the line of duty during the 1st and Second World war subsequent conflicts around the world was held at the Ho Jubilee park.
The event was marked with a beautiful parade under the command of Flt. Lt. Adjoa Kwarteng and made of eight contingents drawn from the various security agencies in the region and the Veterans Administration of Ghana (VAG).
Wreaths were laid as follows;
on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana by on behalf of the Security Services within the Volta Region –Togbe Tepre Hodoh IV – President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the Volta region and Ex- SWOI Kofi Amegbor also laid on behalf of the Veterans Administration of Ghana
1st wreath was laid by the Volta Regional Minister Hon. Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa on behalf of the President and the people of Ghana.
2nd wreath was laid by Commodore Bright Emmanuel Kojo Atiayao, Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Training Command on behalf of the Security Services within the Volta Region.
3rd wreath was laid by a representative of the Regional House of Chiefs Togbe Tepre Hodo IV on behalf of the chiefs and people of the Volta Region.
The final wreath was laid by the Regional Chairman of Veterans Administration Ghana EX WOI Kofi Amegbor on behalf of the Veterans Administration of Ghana.
Present at the ceremony include the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Hon. Divine R.K. Bosson, members of the Regional Security Council Traditional Authorities, and cadets drawn from various schools within the municipality.

HO MCE, RECONSTRUCTS AVEE – LUME ROAD.
In response to a distress call by the Chiefs and people of Avee, Atikpui, Awiasu, Hoe, Hodzo, Klave Lume, Nyive, Shia, Tanyigbe and Tokokoe communities, collectively referred to as Norvisi Development Union (NorDU), to the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Hon. Divine R.K. Bosson, to assist in the rehabilitation of the Avee – Lume road, the Ho Municipal Assembly has undertaken some clearing and reshaping works on the said road to make it motorable.
According to the Chief of Lume Atsyame Togbe Agbenyedzo VI, the call has become necessary because the 2.6-kilometer road is the shortest route linking all the other communities within the catchment area.
He noted that failure to rehabilitate the road would adversely affect the grand durbar of the upcoming “NorDU” festival, slated for Saturday 25th November 2023.
According to the MCE, the grader work undertaken on the road is a significant infrastructure project aimed at addressing safety and usability concerns. “As a son of NorDU, I have no option but to respond swiftly to the call, knowing it would bring great relief to my people, and boost business activities between the regional capital and communities around the area,” he said.

Ho MCE, Ghana Gas, cut Sod for Astro Turf.
The Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Divine Bosson, together with Mr. Francis Augustus Badu and Madam Delphine Dogbega, both representing Ghana Gas Company Limited, came together to initiate the construction of an artificial football field (AstroTurf) at the Ho Technical University campus in Ho.
Addressing participants, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the facility when completed would play a significant role in nurturing sporting talents within the municipality and the Volta Region. He emphasized the value of these talents as a source of boosting the local economy, even in the absence of major factories and industries.
He called on the residents especially the football community to work in close collaboration to ensure the successful completion of this project.
Mr. Francis Augustus Badu, the Community Relations Manager of Ghana Gas Company Limited noted that the project is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, aiming to enhance community development and stimulate socio-economic activities.
The Vice Chancellor of the Ho Technical University (HTU), Professor Ben Q. Hoenyenuga, said that the project would contribute positively to the university’s reputation. He believed the choice of the university campus as the project’s location was highly appropriate.
The project which is being funded by the Ghana Gas Company Limited will feature a standard artificial turf, advanced sensors, and floodlights, and it is expected to be completed within six months.

Ho Technical Institute Holds First Graduation Ceremony.
A total number of 24 students graduated from the Ho Technical Institute, a newly converted TVET school on Saturday 9th September 2023 in Ho. The students were taken through various courses such as Electrical Engineering Technology, Catering, and Hospitality Management, Fashion Design Technology, Wood Construction as well as Building and Construction for three years.
Speaking on the theme: “The Role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in National Development,” The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho, Hon. Divine R.K. Bosson, emphasized the critical significance of TVET in shaping the future of the nation.
Hon. Bosson highlighted the pressing challenges facing the nation’s economy, particularly the depreciation of the Cedi against foreign currencies. He stressed that production is the key to economic stability and that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays a pivotal role in driving production.
The MCE hinted that a school project located on the Kpenoe – Akoefe road will soon become the permanent campus for Ho Technical Institute. This upgraded facility will include dormitory accommodations, enhancing the learning environment for students.
He expressed gratitude to the school’s Electrical and Fashion Departments for their symbolic donations of a practical extension board and a captivating Caphtan garment. These acts of creativity and generosity exemplify TVET’s spirit of innovation and craftsmanship he said.
The Headmaster of the School Mr. Justice Arthur noted that the school originally started in the year 1984 as the Social Welfare Vocational Training Centre to cater for the vocational and technical needs of people from all walks of life, to ensure that everyone has a decent livelihood. According to him, the provision of skills training has a direct bearing on the reduction of juvenile delinquency and also promotes holistic national and human development.
Also present to grace the ceremony includes, Togbe Dede III, Afetorfia of Ho Dome, Mr. Christian Hockey, CEO of Doelyne Enterprise, and the Deputy Volta Regional Director of TVET Services, Madam Perfect Aku Fiakodzo.
