MCE for Ho Addresses Gender Equality Project Launch, calls for collective action to empower girls.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho, Honorable Divine R.K. Bosson, called for collaborative action between all stakeholders in empowering girls as a way of curbing violence against them. He made the call during a Gender Equality Project Launch organized by the E.P. Church Ghana as a special guest. He emphasized the importance of promoting gender equality and combating harmful practices against girls, such as child marriages and female genital mutilation. The MCE recognized the role of education in empowering girls and urged collaborative efforts from the government, civil society, and individuals. He highlighted the relevance of Sustainable Development Goal 5 which calls for Gender Equality and serves as our guiding framework in striving for a world where women and girls have equal rights and opportunities. Additionally, SDG 10, which emphasizes Reduced Inequalities, reinforces the need to address gender disparities and discrimination in all its forms.
The Regional Director of Gender, representatives from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and officials from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) jointly called for the strengthening of the legal frameworks relevant for the protection of vulnerable girls.
