Unauthorized dumping of unhealthy frozen chicken.
On 20 August 2026, the Ho Municipal Assembly’s Environmental Health and Sanitation Department, led by Municipal Environmental Health Officer Rev. Lawrence Senya, conducted a joint operation at Awakpeta, between Ando in Ho Municipality and Tsawenu in Ho West District, following reports of unauthorized dumping of frozen chicken.
The products, comprising whole chickens and assorted parts, had reportedly remained exposed for over 24 hours, increasing the risk of contamination and deterioration. Some residents had collected portions for consumption, processing and possible sale.
The team, comprising officers from Agriculture, Veterinary Services, FDA, BNI and the Regional Environmental Health Directorate, undertook house-to-house sensitisation and confiscation. The remaining heap and products recovered from homes were safely buried. The operation began at about 2:00 p.m. and ended around 8:00 p.m.
